Your holiday
haven
The area is another world, where peaceful flocks graze in
green pastures at the edge of the ever tumbling Atlantic
surf, where the road reaches a dramatic end on the
spectacular silver strand at the foot of Majestic Mweelrea,
and every winding lane between old stone walls lead down to
sandy beaches, some small and sheltered with rocky
headlands, like Killadoon and Devlin, others huge expanses
of golden sands with massive sand dunes, like
Thallabawn.
Here amidst the glories of nature, unspoiled by
development, the modern world, with all its stresses and
pressures seems very far away. The only sounds are the cries
of sea birds and the rush of waves. This is truly one of the
last unspoiled beauty spots left in Europe. Walking is the
most popular recreational activity followed by cycling,
fishing, surfing and other water based pursuits.
Location
- South of Clew Bay and close to the mouth of Killary
Harbour
- Louisburgh, the nearest village, is 10 mins drive and
has many shops and pubs
- Delphi Adventure Centre is 15 minutes of mountain
roads away
- Westport is 30 mins drive - a beautiful, bustling
place with much to attract the visitor including top
class restaurants, golf and a stately home
- Galway City is approx 1 hours drive
- The rugged landscape of north Connemara stretches
east and south and is well worth exploring
- There is a local pub within walking distance of 'The
Cape'
Whether you want a secluded break, the excitement of
outdoor pursuits or the social and recreational life of a
cosmopolitan holiday town, this location is ideal.
